This is the big one. Look at their actual work, not just a few highlight shots. Do you love their style? Every photographer has a different eye – make sure their look matches what you're after.
Also check: are the photos consistent? Or do some look amazing while others fall flat? Consistency shows experience.
Safety First
Newborn photography requires specific training. Ask about their experience and safety practices. How do they pose babies? What training have they done?
It goes without saying – your baby's safety is more important than any photo. Professional newborn photographers know this instinctively.
What's Included?
Here's where it gets confusing. Some photographers include digital images, some don't. Some give prints, some don't.
Ask exactly what you get for your money: - How many digital images? - Are they edited? - Do you get printing rights? - What's the turnaround time?
There's no right or wrong – just make sure you know what you're paying for.
Meet Them First
If possible, have a chat before booking. Whether in person or on the phone – do you like them? You'll be spending a few hours with this person, so comfort matters.

Google reviews, Facebook recommendations, testimonials on their website. What are other parents saying? Look for patterns – if everyone mentions the same good (or bad) thing, that's likely accurate.
